The Dining Room Wall

What started as a temporary place to tape things up that we were learning about has evolved into a daily focal point for conversation and learning. What it lacks in sophistication it makes up ten-fold in functionality. Here's where I find my stuff for it.

Printed Material

Obviously, you can print all your own stuff and pin it up. The internet has literally everything. The problem is that this takes a lot of time, ink and the quality might not be that great. I try to avoid printing images and prefer other methods for finding material.

Flashcards

I have two sets of flashcards: one of famous art and one of famous landmarks. Both are great beginner packs but I really wish an expansion pack existed. Still, these are mainstays of the board and lots of them stay up all the time.

Maps

Our big world map is elsewhere in the house but on the wall, I have two laminated maps that are supposed to go in a 3-ring binder: one of the United States and one of the world. These are great! Also, after a lot of searching, I've purchased similar sized maps of  the individual continents from Rainbow Resource Center. If these don't suit all my needs, I print one out.

Old Calendar Images

After a very frustrating search of where to get cheap, good-quality images for the wall, I bought and cut apart a weekly famous art calendar, a daily world travel desk calendar and two old world travel planners. Best idea ever!
